In this post we will have a look at the differences of mini quads running 3S and 4S lipo batteries. Many who are building their first mini quad might struggle in deciding which setup is best for them, I hope this post can answer some of those questions. I will also talk about how to move from a 3S mini-quad setup to a 4S setup, as I have been asked by FPV’ers who are looking for more power and speed.
Capacitors can make your FPV video cleaner, and your mini quad fly better. But what capacitor should you get? In this article we will discuss the type of low ESR capacitors for your quadcopter.
If you ever damaged or cut the antenna on the 2.4Ghz Radio receiver in a crash, or chopped by spinning propellers, don’t worry. You might be able to fix it without buying a whole new receiver or antenna.
One common issue quadcopter pilots tend to have with mini quad motors are using screws that are too long, and they can make contact with the winding/wires inside the motor.
Over-discharged LiPo batteries sometimes cannot be recognized by LiPo chargers when their cell voltages drop below 3V. In this incidence, I accidentally over-discharged my LiPo battery in my radio transmitter by forgetting to turn it off. In this article I will show you how I fixed it.
Basically, F1, F3, F4 and F7 are the four different series of STM32 processor. This STM32 processor is the brain of your flight controller, pretty much like the CPU in a computer. There are currently 10 series in the STM32 family, from more capable to less capable are H7, F7, F4, F3, F2, F1, F0, L4, L1, L0.
The first 32-bit flight controllers for mini quad was the CC3D with F1 processor. F1 FC has the the lowest
processing power in the four. Good examples of F1 flight controller would be the Naze32 and CC3D.
F3 FC boards were introduced in 2014 and currently have the X-Racer, Betaflight F3, LUX V2, and the KISS FC.
F4 Flight controllers were introduced shortly after the F3. They are also getting more popular, such as the
Raceflight Revolt, BrainFPV RE1, and DemonRC Soul.
F7 is a newer generation MCU. There are at the moment only a handful of flight controllers using F7 processor,
such as BG F7 FC.
